The Opportunity

With Prime Monday Night Hockey, Prime Video entered the Canadian hockey landscape with a major new national sports property: exclusive English-language streaming of national Monday night NHL games for the 2024/25 and 2025/26 seasons. The launch marked the NHL’s first exclusive national broadcast package with a digital-only streaming service in Canada, creating a fresh opportunity to rethink how hockey could be presented, promoted, and experienced across social.

For A96, the opportunity was clear: help bring energy, personality, and immediacy to a new hockey night in Canada, not just by documenting the game, but by building the world around it.

The Challenge

Hockey coverage is crowded. Every game has goals, warmups, tunnels, fans, and highlight reels. The challenge was to make Prime Monday Night Hockey feel distinct in a space where audiences already know the rhythm of traditional sports coverage.

The work needed to feel fast, premium, and social-native, while still carrying the weight of a major national broadcast brand. It had to capture the atmosphere of game night, showcase the broadcast talent, highlight the players and fans, and give audiences a reason to care before, during, and after puck drop.

The Strategy

Our approach was to treat each Monday night as more than a game — it was a weekly event.

Instead of simply chasing highlights, we focused on the full ecosystem of the broadcast: the anticipation, the arena energy, the personalities, the behind-the-scenes details, and the small human moments that make live sports feel alive. We built a content approach designed to extend the broadcast beyond the stream and into the social feed.

The Results

Our work helped shape the social identity of Prime Monday Night Hockey, giving the property a dynamic, recognizable presence beyond the broadcast itself.

By focusing on atmosphere, personality, and access, we helped turn each game night into a broader content moment — one that showcased not only what happened on the ice, but what it felt like to be there.

The result was a content engine built for modern sports audiences: fast, polished, emotional, and made for the way fans consume hockey today.
